Set into the case's protective guard is the blue sapphire cabochon crown, the detail that defines the Ballon Bleu. Inside is the automatic Cartier caliber 1847 MC with approximately 40 hours of power reserve. Water resistance is 30 metres, and the watch is fitted to its matching stainless steel bracelet with polished centre links and a folding clasp.
